Coronavirus Blues
Is it a history lesson Or a sign of the times A morality play Or just the same old shit On a different day Fear seems rooted in our DNA And tragedy never seems far away
So let me share with you this sad little ditty That has bothered me Since I was a kiddie
Fallout Shelter
Now you can be brave and you can be proud But we all live under a nuclear cloud And we could get buried in a nuclear shroud
Don’t live your life all helter-skeltor Build yourself a fall-out shelter Big enough for you and kin Just don’t invite friends and neighbors in
Now you can be sane or you can be crazy You can work hard or you can be lazy Without a shelter you’re pushing up daisies
You know it aint fair, you know it ain’t right Those damned Rooskies keep us up all night Got the kids in school doin fall-out drills Got the grown-ups taking ‘benzos’ pills Every soul in the whole damn nation Knows the definition of annihilation
Don’t live your life all helter-skeltor Build yourself a fall-out shelter Big enough for you and kin Just don’t invite friends and neighbors in
Rubba dub dub, get your own shelter bub Get your own shelter bub Get your own shelter bub
From my second book of poetry, Beyond the Waters. Be safe. Stay home. As long as it takes.
