On That Day
On the day that I pass over
I will not rage against the dying of the light
But I do wonder what will happen
how it will feel
entering the void of peace
I might not recognize it when I get there
or remember that I’ve lived before
I will know full well
where I have been
How I have shown up
On that day
I will have no age
No limitations
No cares for tomorrow
I will be somebody’s dad
somebody’s grandfather
somebody’s friend
somebody’s lover
either past or in the wings
somebody’s favorite poet
On that day
I will be clothed in grace
and loved by my creator
The giver of all life
The author of my next chapter
